Fall House Maintenance Checklist

Now that summer is over and fall is officially underway, it’s time to start thinking about fall home maintenance. We have a Fall House Care Checklist we provide to our clients, but we wanted to share some of the highlights so you know a few of the things to look for, whether you work with TruBlue or not.
Outside Projects
- Spot-seed the lawn and apply fall fertilizer
- Clear fallen limbs, leaves and other yard debris
- Aerate the lawn
- Check window caulking and weatherstripping
- Put in storm windows, where applicable
Inside Projects
- Check the attic for leaks or roofing issues
- Check attic fan
- Replace batteries in all fire alarms and smoke detectors
- Check furnace and change filter
- Inspect sinks, toilets, and drains for leaks or clogs
- Check fire extinguishers
Additional Things to Consider
- Clean outdoor furniture and grills
- Inspect and clean gutters
- Clean window wells
- Clean and store window AC units
- Cut-back plants and plant bulbs
- Seal driveway or walkway asphalt or concrete
- Power wash porches, steps, decks, and patios
- Check chimney, foundation and crawl space for leaks or issues
- Flush hot water heater
- Check and clean air registers, grills, and vents
- Clean and adjust or reverse ceiling fans
