      David and Susan Lancour

      Owning property is a great investment, but sometimes maintenance can eat into the time you want to spend doing the things you love. Whether you’re looking for a property manager who can make sure your home stays in top-notch shape with handyman and maid services or you want someone you can trust to help with emergency repairs or updates, TruBlue of Southwest Florida is your one-stop shop. TruBlue specializes in providing handyman services, kitchen and bath renovations, seasonal projects, a senior accessibility program, a home watch program, help with emergency repairs and more. TruBlue also partners with home owners and realtors to get homes ready to sell, prepare new homes for move in, and complete home inspection punch lists. I’m David Lancour and my wife Susan Lancour and I own and operate TruBlue of Southwest Florida. This company is really a family business – my son DJ and I handle the handyman, carpentry and remodel side of the business and Susan works with the incoming calls and Home Watch clients. Back when Susan and I bought our TruBlue franchise in 2013, we were looking for a company that was still building and would allow us to help ‘flavor’ its identity with our talents. We also wanted something that played to all our strengths and gave us the ability to work together in a way that made lives easier and improved the quality of life in our region. Building our TruBlue business has been a shared and rewarding experience for our family.

    Every property's value can be boosted with the right renovations! Whether your home is from the 1950s or from the 2010s, it's important to consider what you can do to improve how much it's worth. These are the top renovations that are trending this year and why they can add so much value to your home. Update Your Siding Your siding needs to be updated for buyers to even consider walking into your home. Board and batten steel siding has been a hot topic in recent years, as buyers want siding they can have faith in and love the large range of options of color. If your siding is older, discolored, cracked, or warped, it's a good idea to update it before your home hits the market. Attic Bedroom Conversions This update has become incredibly popular within the last couple of years and can add up to fifty thousand dollars to the value of your home, depending on where you are. Attic spaces are generally underutilized, and by turning them into extra bedrooms, you can create more space for a larger family to move into. Pay attention to how much money you spend, and avoid putting too much time and work into these while still making them look good. A full remodel brings in a far lower return on investment, so it’s important to straddle that line. Add Visual Intrigue Visual intrigue is a must! This mighty tool can convince anyone that a property is worth more than it may actually be and gives you a chance to guide buyers' eyes to what you want them to see. From clever use of a white shiplap wall in an otherwise boring space to fun tile in the bathroom that creates a zen and spa feeling, have a little fun with your property. Avoid going too overboard or severe since this might scare buyers away. Create Outdoor Spaces Outdoor spaces are king when you're trying to build value into your property! This means adding spaces where you can gather with friends and family and room for you to feel like you can relax for a while. These spaces can be anywhere from a deck to an exterior kitchen or a lounging area around a fire pit, but be aware of how much money you're spending. Avoid spending more than 10% of your home's current value on the lawn, or you may struggle to recoup it. Your Property Is Valuable Whether this is your first property or your fifth, it's important to keep up with the trends.     TruBlue is experiencing record growth this year. In the past quarter we have welcomed 5 new owners into our TruBlue family. Our new locations span as south as St. Petersburg Florida, as north as Des Moines Iowa, and as far east as Colorado Springs. We are also excited for the many new locations that are currently under development. The first location to open this quarter is TruBlue of Colorado Springs and North Colorado Springs. These locations are owned and operated by Obie Pilkington. Pilkington is a veteran who served a 20 year career in the Military, and was ready to become his own boss. Near the end of his Army career, Pilkington was battling cancer and saw first hand how many seniors and veterans need better house care. When he found TruBlue it was the missing puzzle piece. He soon signed with us and he's excited to support his local community. Our second TruBlue is Winter Garden, located in the greater Orlando Florida area. Michael Holton is the proud owner of this location. His prior background was in project management with IBM. As a busy family man, Holton saw exactly how crazy homeownership can be. There’s always a different person for every job, and tracking down the right guy is a tricky job. With TruBlue, Holton knew he could use his operations background to be the one-stop solution for home maintenance in his community. In St. Petersburg Florida, Spencer and Angela Brooks have opened their first TruBlue. This married couple saw first hand the desire for age-in-place home modifications. This desire sparked their initial interest in TruBlue. Their business will officially open in early November. This power duo will be a great edition to the sunshine state and is looking forward to making a positive impact. Our last team to open their own TruBlue is JD Nelson & Scott Edwards in West Des Moines, Iowa. These two are not strangers to being business partners. In fact they already own two successful businesses of their own in Home Inspections, and Mold & Odor Removal. TruBlue provides extra services that their previous operations were lacking. With their enhanced range of services, and previous ownership experience, we expect to see big things out of our first Iowa franchise.     CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE FULL INTERVIEW We were on the news. Arturo Lopez, owner of TruBlue Total House Care in West Houston Texas, shared his top tips for Fall Prevention. He was interviewed on KRPC TV, alongside Lucas Farrow, a Houston Physical Therapist. Some of his tips include: Have handrails on both sets of the stairs and make sure they are tightly fastened Make sure there is good lighting and with light switches at the top and bottom of stairs and on each end of a long hall Mount grab bars near toilets and on both the inside and outside of your tub and shower. Put night lights and light switches close to your bed. If you or a loved one needs help identifying and preventing the potential tripping hazards in your home, TruBlue offers a Home Safety Assessment.
